How to Use manta bridge to Withdraw to Ethereum

For most users, the important detail is not sending assets into Manta Pacific but getting them back to Ethereum. A deposit is usually a single transfer into the network; an exit is a sequence of initiation, proof, challenge-period waiting, and finalization. Knowing which stage applies prevents a pending withdrawal from being mistaken for a failed one.

Why does a withdrawal stay pending for days?

The withdrawal process has three required transactions: one on Manta Pacific, followed by proving and finalizing on Ethereum. Optimism’s documentation states, “Withdrawals require the user to submit three transactions.” Optimism’s withdrawal-flow documentation describes the same OP Stack sequence used by this type of rollup exit.

Manta Pacific is an Ethereum layer-2 network. Ethereum describes an optimistic rollup as a system that posts transaction data and state commitments to Ethereum while allowing a challenge window for fraud proofs. Ethereum’s optimistic-rollup guide explains why returning funds to Mainnet takes longer than depositing them.

The usual order is:

  1. Initiate: submit the withdrawal while the wallet is connected to Manta Pacific.
  2. Prove: switch to Ethereum when the withdrawal becomes provable and submit the proof transaction.
  3. Wait: allow the fault challenge period to pass.
  4. Finalize: return to Ethereum and submit the final transaction that releases the funds.

The challenge period is a security condition, not an interface delay. On Ethereum mainnet, the comparable OP Stack documentation specifies a seven-day fault challenge period after proving. The protocol documentation also notes that a withdrawal cannot finalize until its proof has matured.

Which network and asset should be selected first?

For the native route, select Ethereum Mainnet as the source and Manta Pacific Mainnet as the destination when depositing. The official interface presents those two networks directly and includes deposit, withdrawal, and history views: https://mantabridge.co/.

Manta Network identifies Pacific as its Ethereum layer-2 environment in its technical documentation. Manta Pacific’s network documentation is the appropriate reference for the network itself, while the interface is where the currently available asset route should be checked.

Do not assume that every token visible in a wallet is supported. Confirm the asset shown by the interface, the source and destination networks, and the receiving address before signing. For ERC-20 deposits, an approval may be required before the deposit transaction.

What must remain in the wallet after sending?

Keep ETH for gas on both networks. Ethereum Mainnet ETH pays for the deposit, proof, and finalization transactions; ETH on Manta Pacific pays for the initial withdrawal and any other layer-2 action. A wallet can hold the asset being moved and still be unable to complete the next step if its gas balance is zero.

A bridge is an escrow-and-message system rather than a simple wallet transfer. Ethereum’s technical explanation describes the standard pattern: assets are held on layer 1 and an equivalent representation is issued on layer 2. Ethereum’s standard-bridge walkthrough explains that deposits and withdrawals are separate cross-layer flows.

How can a pending exit be checked safely?

Open the history entry and compare its transaction hash with the correct chain explorer. “Wait to prove” means the proof is not available yet; “ready to prove” means the Ethereum-side proof can be submitted; a challenge-period status means the proof has already been accepted and the waiting condition remains.

If the status is ready for finalization, the withdrawal is not complete until the Ethereum transaction succeeds. Avoid submitting a duplicate withdrawal simply because the interface has not refreshed. Never provide a seed phrase or private key, and reject signatures that do not match the displayed asset, amount, and destination.
